 Malam pertama di kota Solo, kita memutuskan untuk mencoba makan Tengkleng, hidangan semacam sop / gulai kambing yang khas kota Solo. Karena belum tahu jalan, kita mengandalkan peta Garmin dan Google Maaps untuk mencari lokasi makan Tengkleng yang ok. Ada cerita lucu dari awalnya rencana menikmati tengkleng hingga berganti mie anglo.


One of the famous dish in Solo is Tengkleng, which is a kind of Mutton soup dish. We were new to the town, and had to rely on google maps & garmin gps to navigate the city. This made for a funny story how we switched from wanting Tengkleng to eating Noodles

 Setelah sempat membuat heboh dengan membuka gerai pertamanya di bandara Juanda T2, kali ini Carl's Jr membuka cabang keduanya di jalan Kertajaya Indah.
Pada pembukaan hari pertama mereka hanya mengkhususkan acara untuk undangan, belum melayani umum. Walau demikian, sudah sukses membuat daerah Kertajaya Indah padat merambat, dan keesokan harinya saat pembukaan untuk umum, malah macet luar biasa karena tingginya animo masyarakat.


Carl's Jr was all over the social media when it opened shop in Terminal 2 Juanda Airport, and now they are doing it again with a new branch in East Surabaya area, Kertajaya Indah street.
This time around it's much closer to the city center, whereas Juanda is in Sidoarjo.
With it soft opening, they're only inviting some press and bloggers, but it already causes traffic jams along the street, which shows how much people are enthuzed about this burger joint.

Penggemar masakan Padang tentu tahu dengan rumah makan satu ini. Rumah Makan Sederhana adalah chain resto dari Jakarta yang mungkin adalah salah satu chain yang paling besar. Rasanya biasanya seragam antara satu cabang dan lainnya, kadang ada yang notably great, seperti yang saya temui di Caruban ini.
Dalam perjalanan ke Solo untuk menghadiri acara notaris, saya beserta teman mampir ke resto satu ini. 


One of the most popular dish in Indonesia is the Padang Cuisine. It's usually served in abundance, the taste are amazing and price-wise it's quite cheap. One of the biggest chain that serves Padang Cuisine is Sederhana Restaurant. It originated in Jakarta and now open up shop in the whole country, including here in Caruban.
I went here on a way to Notary summit in Solo, we went here to have a quick lunch expecting it to be just that.

Setelah beberapa kali mencoba hidangan-hidangan seafood yang 'serupa tapi tak sama' di daerah Manyar Kertoarjo, malam ini saya  mendapat undangan spesial dari Caribbean Restaurant untuk mencoba hidangan seafood yang cukup berbeda dengan kebanyakan resto seafood di Surabaya :)
Caribbean restaurant menyajikan hidangan yang kebanyakan bergaya western dan Perancis, serta beberapa pilihan menu fusion.


After a few consecutive times trying out the plain old seafood in Manyar Kertoarjo area, tonight I got a chance to taste a seafood restaurant that's a cut from different cloth. Caribbean Restaurant, an outdoorsy restaurant with Caribbean and nautical theme, serving up western, french and fusion cuisine.

Di Surabaya ada dua tempat yang terkenal dengan buburnya, Happy Garden (http://www.foodgrapher.com/2013/04/happy-garden-resto-cina-bubur_30.html) dan Yungho. Keduanya pertama buka bersebelahan di Andika Plasa, dengan beriring waktu, Yungho akhirnya tutup dan membuka cabang lain, sedangkan Happy Garden tetap di sana dan memperluas restonya


There's two place famous for it's porridge in Surabaya, one is Happy Garden (http://www.foodgrapher.com/2013/04/happy-garden-resto-cina-bubur_30.html) and the other is Yungho.
They both have their first restaurant opened in Andika Plasa building about 20 years ago. With the passing of time, Yungho decided to close their first shop there, while Happy Garden stick around and expand their restaurant.
