Sheraton Surabaya - Lemongrass Scented Boiled Beef Ribs with Spicy Garlic Sauce
Kalau Jamoo di Shangrila hotel mendapatkan koki tamu dari Taiwan,
Sheraton ternyata juga kedatangan guest chef special dari tetangganya taiwan, RRC. Kali ini koki Kenny Ma dan Raymond Ng yang unjuk kebolehan di resto Lung Yuan, yang terletak di lantai 2 Sheraton Hotel. Kedua chef ini menyajikan hidangan ala Kanton yang memang populer di Surabaya.


While Jamoo in Shangrila hotel is having a Taiwanese cuisine event, Sheraton also have a special event catering Cantonese Cuisine. The guest chefs is Raymond Ng and Kenny Ma, both are chefs from Westin Pazhou hotel in China. They'll be cooking a special menu until 31'st of May, on Lung Yuan restaurant, which is located in the 2nd floor of Sheraton Hotel.

Kali ini saya ditemani beberapa teman yang jago makan, Andy Kong fotografer makanan dan Paul Dahong dari group makanmakan FB. Berikut beberapa cuplikan foto dari awal event hingga saat yang ditunggu, makan-makan :D



For this occasion I was accompanied by fellow foodies, here in front of the restaurant is Andy Kong, a food photographer and Paul Dahong from Makan-makan FB Group. Featured bellow are the shots from the start of the event until the highly anticipated food testing event :D

Chef Raymond Ng Cooking Demonstration

Salah satu chef yang diperkenalkan adalah Chef Raymond Wu/Raymond Ng. Beliau bergabung dengan The Westin Pazhou sebagai asisten Executive Chef China tahun 2011. Reputasi dan keterampilan yang tinggi dimiliki setelah pengalaman 20 tahun lebih. Mahir dalam masakan Kanton dan Dim Sum Kanton. Inti dari kreasinya adalah mengedepankan kesehatan dan bahan masakan yang segar. Dengan pengalaman belajar dari Eropa, ia dapat memasak masakan China dengan perpaduan masakan Barat. Selalu berinovasi dan memperbaiki memasak tradisional untuk menciptakan hidangan Kanton baru. Chef ini juga pernah menyajikan masakan ke Mantan Perdana Menteri Luar Negeri China dan pejabat-2 pemerintahan dari dalam dan luar negeri. Beliau juga dikenal sebagai Gastronom di Televisi Guanzhou. This is Chef Raymond Wu, who is the assistant executive chef in Westin Pazhou China from 2011, specializing in Chinese Cuisine. He have over 20 years of experience working with Cantonese cuisine and Dim Sum. His trademark is using a fresh ingredients with an emphasize on healthy foods. With his experience of studying in Europe, he combine the European cooking technique with Chinese taste, inovating on new Cantonese dishes. This Chef have also serves for former Prime Ministers and officials of China and delegations from abroad, and also a gastronomy expert in Guang Zhou's television.

Japanese Soy Sauce Marinated Squid - Lung Yuan, Sheraton Surabaya
Hidangan pembukanya unik, berupa cumi segar dipotong ala sashimi, diberi saus kecap asin / soyu dan Wasabi. Rasanya segar dan menggugah selera. Tidak butuh waktu lama untuk ludes setelah kita selesai sesi foto.


This appetizer is really unique, with fresh squid, cut in sashimi style along with the accompanying Soy Sauce & Wasabi. It tastes fresh and really appetizing for us. Didn't take long for the group to finish it after we're done with the photo taking.

Dua hidangan paling favorit di event adalah Ayam panggang ini dan beef ribs di bawah. Keduanya ada penggemar masing-masing. Rasa ayamnya enak dengan bumbu marinade yang sudah merasuk, jadi tidak perlu saus tambahan sudah pas rasanya.

Two of the most favorite dish were this Roasted Chicken and the Beef Ribs bellow. Both have their own fans, The chicken is already marinated and tastes both succulent and rich, it really didn't need the sauce to help the flavors.

Beef Ribs nya sendiri kualitas dagingnya amat baik, rasanya juicy dan lembut, dengan daging yang minim rasa bumbu. Cocok untuk penggemar steak ala barat yang biasanya minim bumbu dan menonjolkan kualitas daging. Kalau tidak cocok dengan rasa daging yang dominan, bisa dicocol bumbunya berupa spicy garlic sauce. Bumbunya sangat enak, berempah banyak tapi rasanya tetap lembut di dalam mulut.


The Beef Ribs seems to use a good quality beef. It taste juicy and so tender, with a hint of seasoning that isn't overpowering. This would suit the western palate which usually likes to taste the original flavors and tenderness of the meat without heavy seasonings. If you're more of a local Surabaya kind of guy, with a taste-bud for sauces and heavy flavors, be sure to dip it in the Spicy Garlic sauce. The sauce tastes just spicy enough, making the real beef flavors stands out.

Selain menu Ala-Carte, untuk tanggal 30 (sabtu) ini ada acara khusus berupa buffet dinner di Lung yuan, per orang dikenakan Rp 278.000 ++, sudah termasuk minuman ringan
Penggemar minuman beralkohol bisa mencoba paket buffet dan minuman keras, dengan harga Rp 598.000++ per orang


Apart from the Ala-Carte menu featured here, Lung Yuan will have a special buffet dinner event in May 30th (Saturday) which will costs Rp 278.000++ per person.

    Btw, Taiwan itu ROC (Republic of China) deh, bukan RRC sedangkan China sendiri PRC (People's Republic of China).
