Surabaya awal tahun ini semakin ramai dengan adanya tambahan resto baru dengan tampilan yang menarik, ada 1914 di Darmokali dan Domicile yang hadir meramaikan Jalan Sumatra.

This new year eve we got two new addition to Surabaya dining scene, one is 1914 in Darmokali street, and the other is Domicile in Sumatra street.

The place is quite nice, situated in the city center, with a cozy ambiance that would alleviate your dining experience. It doesn't mean smooth sailing though, there are some problems in the service area.

Saat datang malam hari, pesanan teman sempat tidak tercatat, setelah satu jam baru diberi tahu kalau tidak tercatat, setelahnya dicatat tapi setengah kemudian baru dikabari kalau itemnya sold out, terakhir setelah dua jam dan mengganti pesanan akhirnya muncul juga sepiring Ribs. Cerita yang sama juga terjadi di teman berbeda dengan pesanan minumannya, saat itu malam minggu, jadi memang ramai.
Tapi pengalaman kurang mengenakkan juga terjadi saat kembali ke sini untuk makan siang pada hari Senin yang cukup lengang, detailnya bisa dibaca di bagian akhir.
On Saturday night, a friend ordered pork ribs that didn't arrive after an hour waiting, turns out it wasn't noted. Half an hour later, the waiter arrived and said that the item is sold out, after 2 hours and changing menu selection, a beef ribs finally arrived. The same thing happened with another friend in the same Saturday night.

Makanan yang disajikan di sini cukup enak, sebagian besar teman yang ke sini memuji rasa masakannya, walau tidak istimewa tapi cukup lezat. Pizza nya termasuk ok, walau masih ada beberapa yang saya lebih suka seperti Isola, de Capri, Casa Fontana dan duo hotel Majapahit serta Bumi Surabaya. Termasuk enak kalau dibanding Antica osteria yang keras adonan pizza-nya.
Pan Seared Baramundi pesanan salah satu teman ini platingnya menawan, tapi dari segi kesegaran ikan agak kurang optimal, tapi rasanya termasuk lumayan.
Generally we liked the food they serve here, nothing really stands out but nothing tastes bad either. The pizza here also quite nice, unlike the ones I tasted in Antica Osteria nearby, which crusts are too hard to savor.
Pan Seared Baramundi dish here have a lovely plating, too bad the fish isn't as fresh as we expected. Good & fresh fish shouldn't smell fishy :D

Salah satu hidangan minuman yang menarik perhatian, gula-gula kapas ditaruh di atas gelas, lalu diguyur vodka hingga menjadi meleleh.
One of the eye catching beverage in the menu, they put a cotton candy in a martini glass, pour vodka till it melts, on voila, Cotton Candy Martini.

This Foie Gras dish is quite delicious, with an equally pleasing appearance. Too bad it's marred with bad plating. They forgot to peel of the plastic casing on the foie gras, a small details that makes a big difference in the dining experience.

This is part I of the Domicile review, there's some other photos that I haven't got a chance to post, that would go in the second part, which will be added by what I can shot when I visit the restaurant again for the 3'rd time this weekend, not that I really like the place, it's just my friends from various groups keeps inviting me to the place, oh well.. ^^

In conclusion, I like their ambiance and cozy place, the food also tastes nice. But for the upscale price, we expect a quality and service that follows, which is not the case here. It's still a nice place to try, but from this two experience I had, still hestitant to pick this place as a recommended spot for Italian / Western food. Keeping in mind it's still in their soft opening period, I'm quite sure there will be improvements to come.
