Brassery - Graine Angus Sirloin Steak

Kali ini saya ingin memperkenalkan resto baru yang sekarang sedang happening di Surabaya, Brassery.
Tempat ini menyajikan hidangan barat dengan inspirasi dari pengalaman pemiliknya menikmati hidangan di Melbourne Southbank, Vancouver, London West End dan beragam destinasi kuliner uptown lain.
Saya cukup beruntung untuk bisa diundang di acara soft opening resto ini, berikut pengalaman kita saat mencoba beberapa menu andalan yang disajikan dalam acaranya.

Brassery is an up and coming eatery, serving western food, with delicious wine and liquors.
This eatery caters delicious western dishes, which draws inspirations from the owners experience dining in the Melbourn Southbank, London's West End, Marche Saint Germain in Paris and other uptown dining destinations around the globe. They aim to bring those kind of dining experience in our beloved city, Surabaya.

Tempat makan ini walaupun menyediakan banyak minuman keras, tapi untuk lantai 1 nya bebas rokok. Biasanya saya menghindari tempat yang perokoknya banyak dan tidak ada pemisahan antara ruangan bebas rokok dan diperkenankan merokok.

This eatery have a separate dining area for smokers in their second story. This is a great plus for me, since I never enjoyed a pub or similar place that sells liquor in Surabaya, due to the mixed dining area. I came to enjoy the food and drink, and inhaling a second hand smoke isn't part of a good dining experience for me.

Our mission is to bring the cosmopolitan food and dining experiences found in the cuisine meccas of Melbourne, Vancouver, Paris, London & New York to you, to Surabaya.

We’re not interested in what the local competition is doing; our inspiration comes from continents far away.

Beda dengan resto kekinian yang biasanya terlalu banyak melakukan inovasi aneh-aneh tapi tidak terlalu konsen ke kualitas.
Di sini banyak hal yang mungkin baru dan menarik, tapi masalah rasa dan kualitas wine yang disajikan, semua terasa familier, klasik tapi memorable.
Wine enak? ada, ga perlu ribet dibikin sangria atau jadi cocktail, cukup segelas wine yang lezat. Steak enak? ada juga, tanpa dibikin fusion yang aneh-aneh, pilihannya dimasak Red Wine, Manhattan (Whiskey) atau Brandy. Simple great tasting steak.




What is interesting from this restaurant could be summed up in a few lines of mission statements from their website, which we quoted above.
Being unfazed about what your competition is doing, says a lot about this establishment. They do have both the confidence and an idealistic view on their culinary business. 
Lastly I've seen some other establishment going head over heels to add a touch of difference, with less emphasize on good dining experience.
Recipe were twisted here and there, creating a jumble of taste without coherence.
This place takes the other route, keeping it classy, simple and enriched with their own discerning taste and the cook's well honed repertoire.

Pilihan wine di sini beragam, bisa mencoba beragam pilihan untuk dicocokkan dengan hidangan yang ada saat itu. Appetizer dengan rasa yang ringan? cocok dengan sparkling wine. Untuk yang lebih berat, bisa pairing dengan white wine, atau red wine untuk yang rasanya lebih spicy. Terakhir ditutup dengan dessert yang lezat dan Moscatto / Ice Wine yang rasanya manis dan ringan.

There's plenty of wine to choose and paired with the dishes you order, from appetizer to dessert.
We paired our appetizer with sparkling wine, our shared main menu of Salmon & Steak were paired with delicious Plaga White Wine and Cabernet Sauvignon.
For dessert, we simply couldn't resist the delicate Moscato D'asti.

Berikut menu yang kita coba malam ini. Untuk harga dan nama lengkapnya masih menyusul akan saya perbaharui di blog post ini minggu depan. Saya sempat memfoto tasting menunya, tapi sayangnya terlalu overconfident dengan kemampuan kamera HP LG-G6 saya, yang ternyata blur abis sampai tidak terbaca karena ruangannya cukup gelap.

This are the main course we had a few nights ago. I will be updating the names and price next week, since it wasn't ready on soft opening.
I had took a picture of the tasting menu, unfortunately I put too much confidence on my dainty Lg G6 camera, and ended up with a photo to blurry to read.

Buat foodies yang berjiwa muda, biasanya kalau pesan tingkat kematangan steak, paling anti kalau pesan yang well done.
Kebetulan di meja kita malam ini ada yang pesan steak well done untuk dibagi, saya sempat skeptis apa bisa dinikmati steaknya karena biasanya akan terlalu keras.
Untungnya kualitas daging yang disajikan malam itu cukup luar biasa. Steak well done tersebut rasanya tidak kalah empuk dan juicy dibanding steak medium rare yang saya pesan.


For me and other young (in heart) foodies, ordering a well done steak would be considered a culinary crime. Well a crime did took place that night, and a fellow diner ordered a well done steak to be shared. Fortunately the meat quality were superb, the well done steak ends up similarly delicate and succulent as the medium rare steak I ordered.

Angus Graine Sirloin Steak ini adalah menu favorit saya malam itu, dan ada 3 pilihan cara masak dan side dish yang mengikutinya. Pilihannya adalah Angus Steak ini dipersiapkan dengan saus Brandy, Whiskey (Manhattan) dan Red Wine. Kesemuanya sama enaknya, yang saya sendiri paling sukai adalah yang saus Whiskey.


This Angus Graine Sirloin Steak is my favorite dish for this evening. There's 3 ways you can have this steak prepared. You have a choice of Red Wine, Whiskey (ala Manhattan) and Brandy.
All three were stunning, with Manhattan Style being my personal choice.
