Golden Safron adalah salah satu dari dua resto India populer di Surabaya, satu resto lainnya ada di Sitara yang lokasinya ada di jalan Hayam Wuruk, dekat dengan Surabaya Town Square.
Di Surabaya keberadaan resto India cukup jarang, sehingga tidak terlalu banyak pembandingnya.

Golden Safron is one out of two popular -if not the only two- Indian restaurant in Surabaya, the other restaurant is Sitara which is located near Surabaya Town Square.
In Surabaya there isn't many option for Indian restaurant, so there aren't many to compare.

Ganesh Statue

Patung Ganesha ini di depan pintu depan siap menyambut para tamu Golden Safron, dengan kalung bunganya yang cantik dan aroma incense stick.

This Ganesh statue sits in the front of the restaurant, welcoming every guests with it's lovely flower arrangement and the sweet smell of incense stick.

Suasananya menarik dengan kursi yang nyaman dan nuansa yang tenang serta pencahayaan yang tidak terlalu terang, cocok untuk yang ingin nuansa tenang dan romantis.

The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with plush chair and opaque lighting which set the tone for romantic and intimate situation. Quite nice for dating or casual hangout.

Puri Shaji Rp 42.000

Puri Shaji ini sebetulnya 4 buah dalam satu porsi, tapi ada satu yang disajikan dalam keadaan kempes saat itu jadi tidak dimasukkan di foto.

This Puri Shaji suppose to comes in 4 piece in a portion, but on serving, there is one puri that's already deflated so I didn't include it in the picture.

Golden Safron - King Prawn Tandoori (Rp 155.000)

King Prawn Tandoorinya unik, tapi untuk selera kami tidak terlalu cocok. Udangnya sebagian gosong, dan teksturnya terlalu flaky, mungkin karena terlalu matang.

The King Prawn Tandoori is quite unique, but it's not to our liking. Too much of it are charred, and the texture are quite flaky, probably due to being overcooked.

Golden Safron - Indian Chai Tea (Rp 12.000)

Dengan tempat yang menarik dan rasa serta masakan yang cenderung biasa-biasa, resto ini menurut saya setara dengan restoran India lainnya, Sitara. Di satu sisi Sitara menghadirkan masakan yang relatif lebih enak, walaupun juga tidak istimewa, tapi kenyamanan tempatnya tidak sebaik di Golden Safron.

With it's cozy atmosphere and mediocre tasting food, this restaurant for me is on par with it's peer, Sitara Indian Restaurant. Taste-wise Sitara have an edge, but the ambiance in Golden Safron is better for me, specially on the particular table I sat with my friends, which had air conditioning problem.
