Coffee Done The Right Way

Kota tetangga Surabaya ini memiliki banyak tempat yang menarik dikunjungi untuk wisata kuliner. Setelah sempat agak kecewa dengan kualitas minuman kopi di salah satu kafe, malamnya saya mampir ke kedai kopi satu ini.
Pengalaman kecewa dengan kafe sebelumnya langsung sirna, di sini tempatnya menarik walaupun suasana outdoor dan tanpa AC. Salah satu resiko dengan suasana makan outdoor adalah serangan nyamuk, andai ke sini lebih baik tidak menggunakan celana pendek dan sejenis, karena meja sebelah yang pakai baju terbuka kelihatan cukup heboh dalam perburuan nyamuk.



Malang city is a nice place for culinary lovers, their dining scene is quite different compared to Surabaya. The best options here are usually not the upscale eatery, where you'd find Surabaya's best, rather it's the place offering genuine, spartan eatery with reasonable price that gets top credit.
The same hold true for the cafes, earlier on the same day, I visited a cafe in the city center of Malang, and was unsatisfied with the quality of the coffee they serve, luckily I took my chances on the evening and tried this little gem of a cafe here.

It's an outdoor cafe, with many interesting tit bits for decor and cozy ambiance. Though quite cozy, you'd best wear a cloth with good covering to avoid mosquito bites. I noticed few scantily clad visitors frantically hunting for the pesky parasites.

Suasana kafenya menarik, tempatnya terbuka dan sederhana, tapi tetap memperhatikan detail dan dekorasi interiornya. Kadang tempat serupa sering kali terasa silau (ulap) karena cahaya luar terlalu terang dan di dalam gelap, tetapi di sini cukup enak.Supaya tidak terlalu kontras cahayanya, digunakan canopy sederhana.


This place has an appealing atmosphere of outdoor cafe, whilst still putting enough detail on interior decoration to make visitor feel cozy. During daytime the sun glare could be very discomforting, here they put simple awning that serves to reduce it. A simple matters with simple solution that some establishments often fails to notice.

Olahan kopinya di sini pas, baik yang dingin maupun panas. Sempat mencoba Cappuccino dan Ice Latte, keduanya memuaskan. Biasanya kualitas seduhan kopi dipengaruhi cara ekstraksi, kesegaran biji kopi dan proses penggilingan, sebagian kecil kafe juga ada yang memanggang (roast) biji kopinya sendiri. Di sini kopi yang dihasilkan rasanya pas, menandakan proses di atas dilakukan dengan baik.


We ordered two kind of coffee here, hot and with ice, and both tastes great. A few things that effects coffee quality are the extraction methods, freshness of the bean, and grinding process, a few place usually also roasts their own bean, but it's seldom the norm.
Having tasted their coffee, I can say they did things the right way, being able to produce a great tasting brew.
