Resto Jaly-Jaly - Stasiun Blok M Jakarta

Aceh style Fried Rice, Spicy Goodness

Rujak / Rojak Aceh maker

Jakarta, the capital city and the gridlock capital of Indonesia. Usually I go here for business and seldom stay more than a day. Most of the time all errands are done before sundown, and I took the free time to stroll around Jakarta using Busway / Transjakarta bus.
After a few time getting stranded in Blok M terminal (the last stop for the South Jakarta route) I decided to check out this place and have a late lunch.

Jali-Jali Dining Area

The dining area is quite unique, usually you climb up a few stair when entering an eatery, here you descend to lower level to get to the dining area. For a simple eatery, it's quite spacious and clean, on every table they provide crackers and otak-otak for snack. In case you're wondering what's Otak-Otak, you can check the description here : http://www.foodgrapher.com/2013/08/otak-otak-ry-food-court-delta-plasa.html

Otak-Otak

I ordered the Aceh's Fried Rice, which is quite similar in taste with Javanese Fried Rice, though with more kick. They probably use more spice in making the fried rice, usually Javanese cuisines are much milder than the general Acehnese Cuisine. I like the spicier taste of this fried rice, other than the spicier taste, they also serves a different crakcer, Melindjo cracker instead of the usual shrimp cracker. Melindjo is a nut, usually crushed flat to form a disc, than fried into cracker.
